Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović spoke today with Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Pavel Sorokin and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó about the implementation of the project to build an oil pipeline between Serbia and Hungary.

Construction of oil pipeline with Hungary to begin early next year

Đedović Handanović emphasised that this oil pipeline has not only commercial, but also broader strategic importance for the long-term energy security of our countries.
She underlined that there is support from the governments of Serbia, Hungary and Russia for the implementation of this project, which would provide our country with another route for the supply of crude oil in the next few decades, thereby further strengthening its energy security.
The Minister assessed that the Serbian side has made progress in preparing the project and technical documentation and will be ready to start work early next year, while, according to Szijjarto, works on the Hungarian section are also expected to start next year.
The participants in the meeting agreed on the importance of diversifying supply and building new energy routes, which contribute to greater reliability in providing energy.
