This is the first time that agricultural workers have been given the opportunity to lease state land. Stojanovic told the Beta news agency that so far more than 70% of municipalities have formed commissions for the preparation of annual reports on the protection, use and development of agricultural land.
The programmes of seven municipalities have been approved by the Ministry. These municipalities are Vrbas, Kikinda, Bac, Srbobran, Novi Becej, Alibunar and Sremska Mitrovica.
Stojanovic said that the main problem for the lease of state agricultural land is irregular updating of the public real estate register and non-existence of digital cadastre plans.
According to data of the Ministry of Agriculture, there is approximately 300,000 hectares of state agricultural land that will be offered for lease.
