Serbian Minister of Justice Zoran Stojkovic stated today that the Ministry will take the necessary steps for courts to become efficient and to speed up proceedings, adding that judges who are not performing their functions properly will be held answerable for it.
Having answered citizens' questions by phone, Minister Stojkovic said that the justice ministry will demand that courts conclude proceedings within a reasonable time limit.
He announced that control will be performed in courts about which there were most complaints from citizens. The control will be carried out concerning the implementation of court sentences as well as in labour and work-related proceedings.
Citizens mostly complained today over the phone about the slowness of courts and the length of court proceedings because cases in regular courts sometime last up to ten years.
