State Secretary at the Serbian Ministry of International Economic Relations Vlatko Sekulovic said today that investors from Greece have made the largest amount of investments on the Serbian market in the past five years, totalling $1.8 billion.

Participating in the work of a two-day Greek-Serbian business council, Sekulovic pointed out that Greece is a crucial economic partner and added that foreign trade exchange between the two countries is 30% larger than last year.
He said that foreign trade exchange could be even higher if chances for connecting in the field of energy, infrastructure, food production and tourism were utilised.
Sekulovic said that this year Greece has imported from Serbia goods worth $108 million, while Serbia imported $142 million in Greek goods.
The State Secretary called on Greek businessmen to found small and medium-sized enterprises in Serbia, first of all in the field of new technologies since the procedure for registration of companies has been simplified and that tax reliefs and incentives for foreign investors who create new jobs have been introduced.
Executive Director for Entrepreneurship in the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Radmila Grozdanic said that some 150 contracts have been concluded so far on joint investments between Greek and Serbian businessmen. The construction of Corridor 10 will be of great importance for future economic cooperation.
Representative of the Greek Embassy to Belgrade Argiris Makris said that small and medium-sized enterprises are the pillar of economic development and underlined that he believes in Serbia's European future and its economic potentials.
