State Secretary at the Serbian Ministry of International Economic Relations Vlatko Sekulovic announced today that negotiations between the Serbian and Croatian teams on disputed provisions of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) will continue at the end of this or at the beginning of next week.
Sekulovic told Tanjug that negotiations in Zagreb were stopped yesterday due to technical problems and added that the tobacco industry is still a problem.
According to him, it is very important that countries of the region are included in the free trade zone as it will allow development of regional economic cooperation.
The subject of dispute with Croatia is that Serbia has different tax rates for domestically produced and imported cigarettes, Sekulovic explained.
The final deadline for reaching an agreement on tobacco sale is December 12, 2006 as CEFTA is scheduled to be signed seven days later.
