Bojan Dimitrijevic
Greece is willing to examine the possibility of liberalising its visa regime with Serbia, especially for collective journeys, as it has already done with Russia, said Dimitrijevic, who is heading a Serbian delegation at the international tourism fair in Thessalonica.
Also, the Minister said that the Serbian delegation, which includes representatives of tourist organisations of Serbia and Belgrade, talked with representatives of the Greek ministries of tourism and foreign affairs, as well as with directors and representatives of tourist organisations from the neighbouring countries.
He confirmed that in the talks, the Greek side stated its readiness to be a coordinator in forming a joint regional body that would solve and agree on joint activities of Western Balkan countries regarding tourism promotion and giving assistance to countries awaiting EU accession.
According to Dimitrijevic, the collocutors also discussed the possibilities for organising educational programmes and seminars to address various tourism-related issues.
He said they agreed to organise an investment conference in which politicians, investors' representatives and businesspeople from tourism-related sectors should take part because investing in tourism infrastructure is a key deficiency of Western Balkan countries.
At the Thessalonica fair which will last until November 19, the Tourist Organisation of Belgrade will present tourist potentials of the Serbian capital city, large sports events which are to take place there, such as European championships in table tennis and judo, the 2009 Universiade, as well as cultural events scheduled for next year.
