Popovic said that a plant of "Petrohemija" which caused pollution last night had been instructed by a
decision of the Environmental Protection Directorate work only when weather circumstances are such that pollution cannot be caused. However, "Petrohemija'' acted in violation of this decision and put the plant into operation in conditions in which it should not have worked.
Director of the Environmental Protection Directorate Miroslav Nikcevic said that charges will be pressed against those responsible in ''Petrohemija'' tomorrow.
According to the Law on environmental protection, ''Petrohemija'' will have to pay a fine ranging from 150,000 to 3 million dinars.
