Opening an annual counseling meeting for magistrates in Vrnjacka Banja, Stojkovic said that magistrates will now have to meet all those terms like other judges, and in return will get independence in decision-making and protection. In this way there will be no difference between magistrate courts and general courts, Stojkovic said.
He noted that after enforcement of this law, 98% of the people will keep their old jobs whereas those who have not been doing their jobs for years and who stumbled morally will have their status solved after the re-election of judges.
The conference that will gather more than 300 magistrates from Serbia closes November 15.
The conference is being organised by the Ministry of Justice and the UNDP, in association with the American Bar Association – Central European and Eurasian Law Initiative (ABA/CEELI).
