Macut pointed out that almost nine million passengers passed through Belgrade Airport last year, and that a new growth of approximately seven percent is already being recorded compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, Air Serbia continues to break its own records, the Prime Minister underlined, adding that with more than four and a half million passengers last year and more than two million in the first half of this year, it has become one of the most important symbols of a modern and successful Serbia.
The investments being made at the airport are of exceptional importance, and the expansion of the terminal, new gates, air bridges, additional parking spaces, modernisation of infrastructure and increased capacity will enable Belgrade to accommodate an even greater number of passengers and new routes in the coming years, the Prime Minister said.
After touring the works, the Prime Minister visited the Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Sevices Agency (SMATSA), stating that it is important for Serbia to have strong institutions, professionals and modern technology that guarantee the highest standards in air traffic safety.
The results achieved by aviation entities confirm that Serbia is a reliable and credible partner in European and global aviation, the Prime Minister underlined, adding that this is also confirmed by assessments by international organisations, as well as more than a million flights that were safely operated last year.
He stated that investments are being made simultaneously in new air traffic management systems, digitalisation, drones, and preparations for Expo 2027, adding that these are investments that not only bring greater security, but also greater competitiveness to Serbia.
