Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, hosted a gala dinner tonight at the House of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to mark the 65th anniversary of the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

Addressing the participants and guests, Macut stressed that it is a special honour that this anniversary is being celebrated in Belgrade, a city that 65 years ago was a meeting place for representatives of nations gathered around the ideas of freedom, independence and the right of every nation to independently decide on its future.
According to him, the principles set out 65 years ago by the founders of the Movement still have special value today, especially in a world that has changed significantly in the meantime.
The Prime Minister emphasised that, despite numerous changes in the world, the need for peace, dialogue and mutual respect remained unchanged, assessing that these values represent an important basis for relations among states.
He stated that Serbia is committed to cooperation, building friendships and bridges between peoples, while preserving the right to independently and responsibly make decisions regarding its future.
The gala dinner was attended by high-ranking officials and representatives of numerous countries participating in the high-level commemorative meeting dedicated to marking the 65th anniversary of the first conference of the Non-Aligned Movement.
