Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today with Minister of Parliamentary and Minority Affairs of the Republic of India Kiren Rijiju, who is leading his country’s delegation at the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade.

Strong Serbia-India partnership reaffirmed

Macut stressed that the friendship between Serbia and India has strong historical foundations and confirmed Serbia’s readiness to further strengthen bilateral relations.
He noted that the two countries are permanently linked by their shared commitment to peace, equality among states and respect for international law.
The Prime Minister conveyed gratitude to India for its consistent support for preserving Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, assessing that such a stance confirms the sincere friendship and mutual respect between the two countries.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with India’s confirmed participation in Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade, noting that the event will provide an additional impetus to the development of economic cooperation and the establishment of business ties.
Rijiju expressed his satisfaction at returning to a country he first visited as a student and with which India has close and friendly relations.
He stressed that India, as the world’s fastest-growing economy, seeks to expand cooperation with Serbia as much as possible, particularly in the areas of infrastructure and defence.
Rijiju noted that India will always support Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
