Opening new prospects for cooperation with Tanzania

Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, talked today with President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council of the United Republic of Tanzania Hussein Ali Mwinyi about strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

The interlocutors emphasised the close and friendly ties between Serbia and Tanzania, which are based on a common history in the Non-Aligned Movement and the values of this movement.

Macut underlined that peace, dialogue, cooperation, equality and respect, which united the countries in the Non-Aligned Movement six and a half decades ago, continue to be the foundations of cooperation between these countries.

He expressed gratitude to Tanzania for participating in the commemorative meeting dedicated to marking the 65th anniversary of the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade, stating that this is an additional incentive to deepen relations between the two friendly countries and an opportunity to open new prospects for cooperation.

According to him, the recently opened Embassy of Serbia in Tanzania will certainly contribute to this, as will the country's participation in Specialised Expo 2027 in Belgrade.

The Prime Minister stated that there is significant room for improving cooperation in agriculture, the food industry, digitalisation, tourism, education and culture.

He also expressed his gratitude to Tanzania for confirming its participation in Expo 2027, stating that it will be an exceptional opportunity for this country to present its rich culture, tradition, tourism potential and development opportunities.

Mwinyi congratulated Serbia on the successful organisation of the commemorative meeting and expressed his gratitude for the hospitality, stating that Serbia and Tanzania have great potential for further development of cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Republic of Tanzania Mahmoud Thabit Kombo.
