The meeting, which was also attended by Head of Office for UN Women Serbia Milana Rikanović, reviewed the priorities of the new cycle of cooperation between the UN and Serbia, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and support for the European integration process, with a particular focus on improving gender equality policies.
Paunović, who is also the President of the Coordination Body for Gender Equality, said that Serbia has recognised the importance of greater inclusion of women in political, economic and social life, noting that significant progress has been made in the regulatory framework for this area in the previous period.
However, she added that the support of relevant institutions and international partners remains important to continue building a society of equal opportunities.
The Minister emphasised that particular attention needs to be devoted to smaller local self-government units, where stereotypes and prejudices are still more pronounced.
Mordt assessed that Serbia is achieving significant results in the field of gender equality, expressing the readiness of the UN system to continue supporting projects that will contribute to further improving the position of women and strengthening institutional capacities in this area.
