Artemis opens new phase of Serbia-US scientific, technological cooperation

Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Academician Bela Balint met today with Serbia’s Ambassador to the United States Dragan Šutanovac to discuss the next steps following Serbia’s accession to the Artemis Accords, the development of cooperation with NASA, and opportunities to strengthen ties between the scientific, innovation and business ecosystems of Serbia and the United States.

By acceding to the Artemis Accords, Serbia has entered a new phase of cooperation with the United States in the field of space exploration.

The meeting concluded that efforts in the coming period will focus on translating this cooperation into concrete initiatives, with particular emphasis on connecting Serbian researchers and institutions with NASA, identifying joint research and technological projects, and developing programmes that will enable young Serbian scientists, students, engineers and innovators to collaborate with American partners.

One of the key shared objectives will also be to create the conditions for NASA’s participation at Expo 2027 in Belgrade. The Ministry and the Embassy of Serbia in the United States will work on this initiative in the coming period, with the ambition of using Expo as an international platform to showcase Serbia-US cooperation in science, innovation and space technologies, while also fostering links between Serbian institutions and companies and their US counterparts.
