The interlocutors emphasised that relations between Serbia and Somalia have deep historical roots dating back to the time of the Non-Aligned Movement, which provides a solid basis for further deepening the partnership.
The Prime Minister stressed that Serbia supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia, as well as the policy of non-interference in internal affairs, expressing gratitude to the country for its principled position regarding the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia.
The interlocutors agreed that there is significant potential to enhance overall relations between the two countries and expressed their readiness to intensify contacts at all levels in the coming period.
During the meeting, they discussed improving cooperation in the field of security, as well as economic potential, particularly in the oil and gas sectors.
It was noted that Somalia has significant natural resources, including mineral raw materials, and an invitation was extended to Serbian companies to visit the country and consider investment opportunities, with full respect for its sovereignty and legal framework.
The interlocutors also agreed that there is scope for strengthening cooperation in the field of education, through student exchanges and the linking of universities, as well as in terms of enhancing economic exchange and intensifying contacts between business delegations.
The President of Somalia conveyed gratitude to Serbia for its support, expressing confidence that his country will reach a peaceful and sustainable solution to current challenges.
The meeting was also attended by Serbian Ambassador in Ankara Aca Jovanović.
