The meeting looked at the implementation of existing laws and the importance of developing new laws, in order to further strengthen the legislative framework and thereby improve the protection of human rights, with its full harmonisation with the relevant regulations of the European Union and respect for the Constitution of Serbia.
The interlocutors agreed that it is necessary to specify and improve protection systems in order to prevent abuses and ensure full protection of citizens' rights.
The importance of educating institutions and citizens about their rights and obligations in the field of personal data protection was also emphasised, as well as continuous cooperation with relevant international partners.
It was underlined that the new solutions will also include a clearer definition of the competences of institutions and further strengthening of the capacity to supervise the implementation of regulations.
In this context, the importance of responsible and professional media reporting on data protection issues and citizens' rights was also highlighted, in order to accurately inform the public.
The interlocutors also pointed out the importance of harmonising new laws with accelerated technological changes, in order to ensure legal certainty and protection of citizens in the modern digital environment.
The goal of the new legal solutions is to establish a balance between the preservation of human rights, as well as strengthening public trust in the work of institutions, through responsible and transparent handling of data.
