The President of Algeria expressed satisfaction with the meeting and the opportunity to re-establish close cooperation between the two countries, while Macut recalled that Serbia has always supported Algeria’s struggle for independence.
The Prime Minister of Serbia expressed gratitude for Algeria’s position on the non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of so-called Kosovo and emphasised that Serbia is a militarily neutral state committed to preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The interlocutors expressed their desire to intensify relations and for the two countries to become strategic partners.
Macut pointed out that he understands the issue of Western Sahara and added that Serbia supports the resolution of outstanding issues in accordance with international law, primarily the Charter of the United Nations, and with respect for the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of all UN member states.
The interlocutors highlighted that cooperation between Serbia and Algeria could be expanded in the fields of agriculture, university exchanges, the machinery industry, energy, as well as in the field of armaments, that is, diversification in all respects.
Speaking about potential areas for cooperation, the Prime Minister of Serbia highlighted the energy sector, noting the mutual interest in enhancing cooperation in natural gas, renewable energy sources and the exchange of knowledge and technologies, with the aim of strengthening energy security and sustainable development in the future.
The President of Algeria also identified the pharmaceutical sector as a possible area of cooperation, given that the country has a developed production of pharmaceutical products and vaccines.
