Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić assessed today that relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Malawi are friendly, strong and rooted in decades of cooperation.
Following a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Malawi George Tapatula Chaponda, Đurić emphasised that Serbia continues the tradition of cultivating close relations with African countries.
Although a candidate for European Union membership, Serbia sees its comparative advantage in its exceptional relations with states such as Malawi, Đurić stressed.
The Minister noted that today’s meeting confirmed the readiness to deepen political dialogue and cooperation, expressing special gratitude to Malawi for its support of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The two countries share similar positions on numerous international relations issues, said the head of Serbian diplomacy, pointing to the importance of intensifying economic cooperation, particularly in the fields of mining, energy and agriculture.
Đurić also welcomed Malawi’s confirmation of participation in Specialised Expo 2027, noting that for Serbia, this event represents a key development project and an opportunity to showcase the cultural, tourism and economic potential of participating countries.
Chaponda emphasised that his country is strongly committed to further strengthening relations with Serbia, both bilaterally and multilaterally, underlining the importance of continuous political dialogue and intensifying visits at the top and high levels.
