Further strengthening Serbia-Germany cooperation in areas of mutual interest

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met today with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Anke Holstein, to discuss the further enhancement of bilateral relations and stronger cooperation between the two countries.

Đurić assessed that bilateral relations between Serbia and Germany are good and that there is mutual willingness to further improve them, both politically and economically.

The Minister stated that membership of the European Union remains Serbia’s strategic commitment and one of the priorities of its foreign policy, alongside continued dedication to the reforms necessary for progress on its European path.

Speaking about regional cooperation, he emphasised that Serbia remains firmly committed to preserving regional stability, developing good neighbourly relations and strengthening economic and infrastructure connectivity, noting that Germany is an important partner for Serbia in these efforts.

Regarding economic relations, Đurić said that cooperation between the two countries has been developing dynamically year after year, as demonstrated by the continued inflow of investments by German companies in Serbia, particularly in sectors important for the country’s further economic growth and development.

The head of Serbian diplomacy wished Ambassador Holstein every success in her new role, expressing confidence that open and constructive dialogue would continue during her mandate and that cooperation between Serbia and Germany in areas of mutual interest would be further strengthened.
