The reception was also attended by Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni, who greeted Prime Minister Macut.
At the reception, the Prime Minister also spoke with United States Vice President JD Vance, UN Secretary-General António Guterres and his predecessor in the post, Ban Ki-moon.
He also had brief talks with President of Estonia Alar Karis, Prime Minister of Lithuania Inga Ruginienė, Prime Minister of Latvia Evika Siliņa, Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis, President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel, President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili, Prince Albert of Monaco and representatives of San Marino.
Macut noted that the Winter Olympic Games are a true celebration of sport, where the whole world has the opportunity to enjoy the competitions and achievements of the best athletes.
He said that it was an honour for him to attend the ceremonial opening of the Games on behalf of the Republic of Serbia, noting that three athletes from Serbia will also take part.
The Prime Minister thanked President of Italy Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Meloni for the warm welcome, and pointed to the friendly and brotherly relations between Serbia and Italy, as well as the strategic partnership that benefits the peoples of the two countries.
This year, the Winter Olympic Games are being held from 6 to 22 February in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. Serbia’s Olympic team consists of alpine skier Aleksa Tomović, as well as Anja Ilić and Miloš Milosavljević, who will compete in Nordic skiing.
