Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, visited the Military Medical Academy (VMA) today, accompanied by Minister of Health Zlatibor Lončar and Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić.
The Prime Minister and the ministers met with the leadership of VMA to discuss the current state of affairs, possibilities for further improving its operations, and the role of this medical institution within the overall healthcare system of the Republic of Serbia.
Particular attention was given to assessing VMA’s professional, technical, and organisational capacities, as well as the potential for their further engagement to strengthen citizens’ healthcare and enhance system efficiency.
Macut stated that the continuous improvement of the healthcare system is one of the government’s priorities and that the state will continue investing in the development of healthcare institutions and the strengthening of their capacities, in the interest of all citizens of Serbia.
He also noted that this is the first in a series of meetings and that this practice will continue with all healthcare institutions in Serbia, in order to find solutions for improving the healthcare system and reducing surgical waiting lists.
The Prime Minister stressed that the Military Medical Academy is one of the key institutions in military healthcare, with a high level of expertise and capacity, ready to contribute to the overall health stability of the country in line with its responsibilities.
Lončar highlighted the importance of coordination between civilian and military healthcare, noting that such discussions contribute to better planning and optimal use of existing resources within the healthcare system.
