Speaking at the Global Labor Market Conference, which is being held under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Đurđević Stamenkovski emphasised that Serbia today is not a country that is waiting for change, but one that is creating it – through adaptation, reforms and active participation in the development of new solutions.
She recalled that Serbia has implemented far-reaching structural reforms in recent years, which have yielded concrete results – ranking fourth place in Europe in terms of GDP growth and the first investment-grade credit rating in the country’s history, as confirmation of macroeconomic stability and the trust of international financial institutions.
Special emphasis was placed on results in the labour market, the Minister emphasised, stating that in the third quarter of 2025, the unemployment rate reached a historic low of 8.2%, which is the lowest level in the last two decades, and that since 2015, the number of the unemployed persons has decreased by more than 53%.
Đurđević Stamenkovski underlined that over the past year, the minimum wage was increased by 38%, demonstrating the clear commitment of the state that economic growth must be accompanied by an increase in the standard of living, decent working conditions and the strengthening of social security.
Speaking about legislative reforms, she pointed to the modernisation of the employment system for foreigners through the introduction of a single residence and work permit, while fully preserving the rights of domestic workers and the stability of the labour market.
According to her, particular attention was paid to young people, through the implementation of the Youth Guarantee, one of the key reform measures aimed at young people aged 15 to 29 who are not in the labour, education or training system.
The Minister also highlighted Serbia’s strategic orientation towards digital transformation and innovation, recalling that Serbia is the first country in Southeast Europe to adopt the Artificial Intelligence Development Strategy and establish the Institute for Artificial Intelligence, as well as being a member of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence.
