Dačić noted that the state of emergency has been lifted in all municipalities and cities, but that the team continues to monitor the meteorological and hydrological situation and, together with all competent ministries, local governments and services, maintains a high level of preparedness to ensure an adequate response at all times and provide the necessary assistance to citizens.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović, State Secretary at the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandar Đukić, and Assistant Minister of the Interior and Head of the Emergency Situations Sector Luka Čaušić informed the team in their introductory statements about the current situation on the ground in their respective areas, as well as the measures implemented during the previous period.
Mesarović stated that the situation regarding electricity supply across the territory of Serbia is absolutely stable, and that in the event of minor failures, response teams react promptly.
Čaušić specified that since the previous session of the team, on 16 January, eight interventions have been carried out, in which two people were rescued and evacuated, which, when compared with data showing that 1,989 interventions have been carried out due to weather conditions since the beginning of the year, indicates that the situation has significantly improved.
He emphasised that the sector is in constant communication with the state Hydrometeorological Institute, and that it continuously monitors forecasts, adding that chiefs of staff were warned to take preventive measures through local government units due to the announced low temperatures, and that the relevant services were placed on alert following this warning.
It was also announced at the session that in the municipalities where a state of emergency was declared due to the severe winter weather, the formation of commissions to compensate damage to small household appliances and white goods has begun.
In addition, telephone lines have been opened enabling citizens to report damage incurred.
Due to the stabilisation of the hydrological situation, all regular and emergency flood protection measures have been lifted, and preventive measures are currently being implemented on the ground, namely, inspections of all sections where flood protection measures were previously in place.
