Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić stated today, at the opening of the Ambassadors’ Conference in Belgrade, that the priority in the Ministry’s work in the coming year will be strengthening the capacities and potential of its human resources.
Đurić pointed out that Serbia currently has 111 diplomatic and consular missions worldwide, embassies, missions to international organisations and consular offices.
He expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the Ministry is starting 2026 with a major public call “Be a Serbian Diplomat”, the main goal of which is to attract, on a meritocratic basis, high-quality candidates of various profiles who will strengthen the diplomatic service, as well as the Ministry’s technical services and diplomatic and consular missions.
The head of Serbian diplomacy told diplomats that their role and responsibility is to lead initiatives and activities in these complex times, adding that additional attention in 2026 should be devoted to public diplomacy, since today the fight for Serbian national interests is largely taking place in the public and virtual spheres.
Đurić emphasised that the heads of diplomatic and consular missions have a significant share of the responsibility to present Serbia’s state positions in receiving countries in a clear, concise, convincing and articulate manner.
