The Contract for the design and construction of the transport system for Line 1, Phase 1 of the Belgrade Metro was signed by Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijević, Alstom Europe Region President Andrew DeLeone, Public Enterprise Beogradski Metro i Voz Director Andreja Mladenović and Secretary of the City of Belgrade Secretariat for Public Transport Slaven Andrić.
The Financial Protocol was signed by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali and Ambassador of France to Serbia Florence Ferrari.
At the signing ceremony, Mali explained that the Protocol envisages financial support in the form of a loan from the French Treasury in the amount of €150 million for the implementation of the Belgrade metro project, one of the most important infrastructure projects in Serbia.
Sofronijević emphasised that cooperation with French partners on the project to build the first line of the Belgrade metro is one of the most significant examples of successful interstate cooperation.
For her part, Ferrari noted that the signing of the documents represents a new, decisive and concrete stage of the project, which is important both for the two countries’ bilateral relations and for France’s engagement in supporting strategic projects that benefit the citizens of Serbia.
The commercial contract with Alstom covers the preparation of design and technical documentation, procurement, transport and execution of works related to the installation of equipment and materials, testing and commissioning of the transport system of the first phase of Line 1 of the Belgrade Metro.
The contract envisages the procurement of a total of 32 metro train sets, representing the overall requirement for the entire Line 1, as well as the implementation of supporting systems necessary for the safe and reliable functioning of metro transport.
