Đedović Handanović stated that the priorities for further development of the energy sector remain the diversification of sources and routes of energy supply and the strengthening of energy security, with new capacities of state-owned renewable energy sources.
She recalled that two years ago, Serbia began diversifying the gas sector by building the Serbia-Bulgaria gas interconnection, through which the country is supplied with gas from Azerbaijan, and also has access to the TAP and TANAP gas pipelines.
Currently, technical documentation is being prepared for gas interconnections with North Macedonia and Romania.
The Minister noted that the spatial plan for the Serbia-North Macedonia gas interconnection has been adopted, while the Serbia-Romania gas interconnection project is now in the stage of preparing technical documentation.
She pointed out that one of the largest renewable energy projects in Europe is also being prepared – a 1 GW solar power plant with 200 MW of battery storage.
Cormier praised the reforms implemented by Serbia in the energy sector, as well as its readiness to couple with the EU electricity market.
He said that the World Bank is interested in continuing the dialogue on financing capital projects and reforms in Serbia.
