Đurić announced that the Serbian delegation will have nine meetings with senators, congressmen and other leading representatives of the US Congress, as well as a conversation with US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau about bilateral relations, the situation in the Serbian oil company Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS), but also the position of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.
The Minister emphasised that the current circumstances in Europe and the energy issue make this period particularly significant, adding that an expanded Serbian team is in Washington, D.C. with the intention of making the voice of the Serbian lobby heard as loudly as possible and that its strengthening is a long-term and joint task.
This is not only the job of the ambassador or minister, but of our entire society, including more than a million Serbs in the United States, Đurić said, adding that Serbia has responsibly prepared for energy challenges and that citizens should not worry about supply.
He recalled that the administration of US President Donald Trump suspended the strategic dialogue with Priština due to the position of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, announcing that intensive talks would also follow on this issue.
The head of Serbian diplomacy also announced a meeting with Congresswoman and co-chair of the Serbian Caucus Claudia Tenney, who is a sincere friend of the Serbian people, recalling her support for the Serbian community in Kosovo and Metohija.
