Minister without portfolio in charge of coordinating activities and measures in the field of relations with the diaspora Đorđe Milićević met today in Paris, on the eve of Armistice Day, with representatives of the Serbian community in France.
The meeting, held at the Serbian Cultural Centre, was attended by Ambassador of Serbia to France Ana Hrustanović and Acting Director of the Directorate for the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Vladimir Kokanović.
The discussion focused on the position and challenges faced by members of the Serbian community in France, as well as on possibilities for further strengthening institutional and cultural ties with the homeland.
Milićević emphasised that Serbia has never forgotten and will never forget its people abroad, underlining that the government remains dedicated to supporting the diaspora – through supplementary schools, cultural programmes and summer camps, as well as through new initiatives aimed at fostering closer cooperation and stronger institutional support.
The world today, as 107 years ago, longs for peace, stability and trust. Serbia was then on the right side – the side of good, alliance and shared values, he said.
The Minister stressed that today we wish to pass that strength on to new generations, and sent a message that Serbia is their safe home to which they can always return and from which they can always expect support.
Milićević underlined that the Serbian community in France represents a living bridge of friendship between the two countries, and that France and Serbia today continue to share the values of freedom and solidarity that bound them together in the most difficult times.
