Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Snežana Paunović held talks today in Athens with Greek Minister of the Interior Theodoros Livanios and Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou.
The meetings, which were also attended by Ambassador of Serbia to Greece Nikola Nedeljković, confirmed the centuries-old friendship and traditional closeness of the two countries and peoples, as well as the readiness to further strengthen cooperation in areas of importance to citizens and local communities.
Paunović, who is on a two-day visit to Athens, stressed the importance of continuing the twinning of municipalities and cities between Serbia and Greece and invited her Greek counterpart to jointly organise a conference in Serbia in the first half of 2026, which would bring together the presidents of local government units of the two countries.
In this context, the Greek side accepted the initiative and proposed the formation of a joint organisational team.
In the conversation with Minister Livanios, the joint commitment to improving border infrastructure was also confirmed.
During the meeting with Minister Papastergiou, Paunović emphasised that digitalisation is the foundation of the reform of public administration in Serbia.
She invited her Greek counterpart to visit Serbia and tour the State Data Centre in Kragujevac, in order to see first-hand Serbia’s progress in this area.
