Đurić underlined that the joint commitment to dialogue, cooperation and trust-building in the region and beyond was confirmed, recalling that this was the second meeting with his Finnish counterpart in the past year.
Referring to the historical significance of the Helsinki Final Act of 1975, the head of Serbian diplomacy emphasised that Serbia attaches great importance to Finland's efforts to revive and promote the principles of that document.
He stated that Serbia firmly believes that respecting the principle of sovereign equality of states, refraining from the threat or use of force, and peaceful resolution of disputes are the basis not only for preserving peace, but also for overall prosperity and progress.
Đurić also recalled that Serbia chaired the OSCE in 2015, demonstrating the capacity and willingness to contribute to the role of this organisation.
The head of Serbian diplomacy emphasised the commitment of the Serbian government and state bodies to resolve all issues democratically, through dialogue and in accordance with European democratic principles and standards.
Regarding the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, he informed the Finnish Foreign Minister about the difficult situation of Serbs and other non-majority peoples.
Đurić highlighted the importance of the role of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and Metohija and called on all citizens to participate in the upcoming local elections.
The head of Serbian diplomacy emphasised that exercising the right to vote is one of the most important democratic rights and it is very important that everyone be able to exercise it in a democratic manner.
He assessed the bilateral cooperation between Serbia and Finland as extraordinary in the economic, political and other areas.
Đurić noted that Serbia can learn a lot from Finland, especially in the areas of modern education, transparency and the fight against corruption, and expressed satisfaction that this visit will contribute to the continuation of cooperation and dialogue between the two countries.
OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Elina Valtonen underlined that the organisation's activities in Serbia are aligned with the priorities defined by the government and are being implemented in partnership with Serbian institutions, and that the OSCE Mission's task is to assist Serbia in building strong, independent, accountable and effective democratic institutions and support the work of civil society.
Speaking about the current situation in Serbia, Valtonen said that it is important to calm tensions and avoid rhetoric that incites division or confrontation, and that she believes that the principles related to the rule of law and democracy remain the goals of the Serbian government, as well as that there is a common way forward.
The Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs highlighted the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries.
Finland is ready to continue this fruitful partnership, concluded Valtonen.
