Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met today with Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Benin Fortunet Alain Nouatin to discuss the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the field of defence and security.
On the first day of his visit to Benin, Đurić emphasised that this visit reflects Serbia’s clear commitment to deepening bilateral relations.
He noted that during the meeting, mutual interest in establishing concrete cooperation in the field of defence was confirmed.
The Minister pointed out that Serbia maintains a policy of military neutrality and pursues a multi-vector foreign policy, which creates opportunities for cooperation with countries such as Benin.
In this context, Đurić stressed that Serbia is ready to consider modalities of cooperation with Benin, including the exchange of experiences and professional training.
He also invited Minister Nouatin to visit Serbia and the Partner 2025 International Armament and Military Equipment Fair in September.
The head of Serbian diplomacy also met today in Cotonou with Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts of Benin Babalola Jean-Michel Hervé Abimbola.
He stated that Serbia is committed to strengthening its relations and cooperation with Benin at all levels, building on historical foundations.
We are very interested in deepening cooperation in the field of culture, said the Minister, emphasising that connecting national institutions in this area would contribute to closer ties and greater mutual understanding between our peoples and cultures.
The officials also discussed opportunities for improving cooperation in the field of tourism, as well as linking the two countries’ tourism organisations and associations.
