Rasim Ljajic
Ljajic said with BBC Radio that this plan will contribute to the regaining of trust in relations between Belgrade and Brussels on the one side and Belgrade and The Hague on the other, adding that this trust will ensure that the cooperation becomes far more efficient and fruitful in the future.
He stressed that the most difficult part of that plan would be its full implementation, i.e., locating, the arrest and extradition of Ratko Mladic to the tribunal.
As for progress made in finding Mladic, Ljajic said that progress is possible bearing in mind that all state structures and all institutions are absolutely aware of the importance of solving this issue.
He pointed out that in a political sense, there are no more dilemmas whether to extradite Mladic or not. According to Ljajic, everyone is absolutely aware that Mladic should be located, arrested and extradited to The Hague and everyone is ready for that.
A great number of suggestions was accepted in making this plan in order to make the plan concrete and operational with the aim that Serbia should execute its main obligation to the tribunal, i.e., to extradite Mladic.
According to him, what follows now after the plan is presented is to work it out. Ljajic said that the plan is relatively short and speaks on a series of measures which will be undertaken in the forthcoming period.
Speaking on continuation of Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) talks, Ljajic said that it would be very useful to continue negotiations with the EU and expressed hope that concrete evidence on Serbia’s serious intention to find Mladic could affect the EU’s decision to continue these talks.
