Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić and Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Snežana Paunović discussed today with Greek Minister of the Interior Theodoros Livanios further improvement of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of migration, border control and public administration.
Dačić emphasised that matters pertaining to issuing personal documents, migration and border crossings are points of contact between the interior ministries of the two countries.
He noted that approximately 1 million Serbian tourists visit Greece annually, which is why the meeting looked at the important issue of congestion at border crossings, especially at the Evzonoi border crossing, and overcoming these problems.
According to him, it is expected that one-stop checks at the border crossing with North Macedonia will begin functioning operationally next week, which will significantly affect the speed of crossing the border with Greece.
He emphasised the importance of Livanios’ announcement that Greece will invest over €20 million in Evzonoi to enable this border crossing to accommodate the large number of tourists visiting the country.
