Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić visited today at Constantine the Great Airport in Niš the crew members of the Russian Ilyushin IL-76 aircraft, who, together with Serbian firefighting and rescue teams, are taking part in extinguishing wildfires in Deliblato Sands, on Mt. Stolovi near Kraljevo and in Lukovo near Vranje.

Dačić visited the crew together with Assistant Minister and Head of the Ministry of the Interior’s Emergency Situations Sector Luka Čaušić and Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Serbia Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the Russian Federation for its assistance and for dispatching the specialised Ilyushin firefighting aircraft, which has a capacity of 42 tonnes of water.
He noted that the Russian specialist team has so far carried out 22 sorties, during which it dropped 924 tonnes of water on wildfire-affected areas across Serbia.
The Deputy Prime Minister also thanked everyone who had offered or provided assistance, recalling that this is not the first time Russian aircraft have participated in firefighting operations in Serbia.
