Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye Hakan Fidan discussed various aspects of bilateral relations today, as well as opportunities for further enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation.
The two officials noted that the mutual partnership is based on a clearly expressed political will on both sides and the strong relationship between their respective heads of state.
Đurić assessed that cooperation between Serbia and Türkiye could play a key role in fostering lasting stability in the Western Balkans, emphasising that Serbia is essentially committed to building a peaceful and prosperous region.
The head of Serbian diplomacy gave a detailed briefing on the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, stressing that it is imperative for the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština – which has been blocked for years due to the unilateral actions of Albin Kurti – to resume with the facilitation of the European Union.
The Minister expressed his expectation that Türkiye would show understanding for Serbia’s positions and contribute to creating a positive atmosphere for the continuation of a productive dialogue between Belgrade and Priština on the normalisation of relations.
Commenting on the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Đurić reaffirmed that Serbia consistently supports the Dayton Agreement and the territorial integrity of its neighbour, adding that solutions to the country’s internal problems must be sought through the inclusion of all relevant and democratically elected political actors in dialogue, while respecting the competencies of Republika Srpska.
The Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs confirmed Türkiye’s participation in Specialised Expo 2027, to be hosted by Belgrade, and extended an official invitation to Đurić to visit Ankara.
