Speaking at a seminar “How to do business with Great Britain” which was held in the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS), Bubalo said that the state organs of Serbia are making efforts to advance further development of economic and political relations between the two countries.
PKS President Slobodan Milosavljevic said that the continuation of the privatisation process lies ahead for Serbia, in which the public sector will also be included. He added that Serbia expects major multinational companies from Great Britain to take part in that privatisation process.
British Ambassador to Serbia David Gowen said that Serbia is still a country in transition, and added that his country will lend support in transforming Serbia into a modern European country.
Gowen said that after October 5, 2000 important steps have been taken in Serbia concerning economic and structural reforms, and privatisation must continue until complete liberalisation of the market is achieved.
He said that Great Britain is giving help to state organs of Serbia in structural changes, the creation of a civil society, fight against organised crime, corruption and overcoming other problems.

First Secretary at the British embassy in Belgrade David Webb said that goods exchange between Serbia and Britain last year was worth some $213 million, with a large trade deficit on the Serbian side, but that deficit is now gradually decreasing.
Participants of the seminar, which was held under the organisation of the PKS with the support of the Serbian Ministry of Economy, said they expect that the upcoming visit of Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica to London should significantly contribute to further development of political and economic cooperation between Serbia and Great Britain.
