Brnabic pointed out that Serbia worked strategically to create a basis for the development of the IT sector, science and technology, by investing in these areas, and above all, in the teaching staff, which represents the greatest development potential of our country.
Speaking about the priorities of this government, the Prime Minister stated that in the previous period, programming was introduced as a compulsory subject in primary schools and the number of IT departments in secondary schools increased.
She also explained that subject Digital World was introduced from the first grade of primary school, and from last year, the basics of understanding artificial intelligence in all primary and secondary schools in Serbia too.
Brnabic also stated that the government will continue with investments in infrastructure for startup innovation and the construction of science and technology parks, as well as with support for those who are already doing business in Serbia.
Summarising the results in this area, Brnabic pointed out that the goal is to attract educated people from all over the world, adding that in recent years more and more young people from the diaspora are returning to Serbia to work in IT companies on the Serbian market.
Representatives of the Siemens Energy company estimated that human resources are the most important basis for achieving success in the field of innovation and new technologies, in which Serbia is the leader in the region.
When it comes to future strategies, the representatives of this company stated that the plan is to expand the capacities of already established centres in Serbia: the Centre for the Development of Project Solutions in Industry and the Global Centre for Cyber Security, as well as to consider development in the areas of IT, large data and artificial intelligence.
They also stated that they expect a significant increase in the number of employees in Serbia, and only of highly qualified personnel.
The meeting also looked at the possibilities of cooperation in the field of energy transition and new energy sources with Siemens Energy, one of the leaders in the development of technology for the production and use of hydrogen in industry and energy.
Brnabic pointed out that the government of Serbia will provide all the necessary support for cooperation with this company, which works intensively on the promotion of our country on the global market.
Minister of Information and Telecommunications Mihailo Jovanovic also attended the meeting with representatives of Siemens Energy.
