Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, visited Banka Poštanska Štedionica today, where he discussed with the Chairman of the bank’s Executive Board Bojan Kekić and his associates the current operations, development plans, and further improvement of the work of this financial institution.

Great importance of digitalisation of banking services for strengthening financial system

The Prime Minister emphasised that Banka Poštanska Štedionica successfully follows the highest European standards and that its operations bring concrete benefits to the citizens and economy of Serbia.
He noted that Serbia’s accession to the SEPA system is an important step towards strengthening economic integration with Europe, as it enables faster, simpler, and more favourable payment transactions for citizens and the economy.
The Prime Minister stated that, in anticipation of Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade, Serbia has the opportunity to demonstrate its connection with European financial flows and further improve the conditions for business and investment.
Macut also pointed out the importance of developing the network of mobile branches of Banka Poštanska Štedionica, which enable the availability of banking services to citizens in remote and smaller places.
He said that the Government of Serbia will continue to support projects that contribute to the modernization of the financial system and the improvement of the quality of services.
The interlocutors agreed that further digitalization of banking services and harmonization with European standards are of particular importance for strengthening the financial system, economic growth and improving the quality of life of citizens.
