Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Serbian negotiating team with the EU Miroljub Labus said today, following his meeting with Minister of State for Europe in the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office Douglas Alexander, that Belgrade is prepared for further negotiations on European integrations and negotiations on the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU (SAA).
Following their recent meeting in London, Labus and Alexander today once again reiterated that Serbia’s future is in the European Union, as well as that Serbia-Montenegro has potentials to move towards the EU much faster than it is now.
Labus pointed out that the Serbian government will observe the adopted “Agenda 2012”, according to which Serbia-Montenegro will by that year fulfil all necessary criteria for EU membership. He also said that the outcome of the Montenegrin referendum must not slow down Serbia’s road to the EU.
Douglas Alexander said that Serbia must fulfil all conditions for its membership to the EU, including full cooperation with the tribunal in The Hague.
