At a press conference, following a tour of the clinic, Milosavljevic announced that the works will be completed by March 2006, and specified that two new lifts will be added, four old ones reconstructed, heating, ventilation and laundry systems fixed, and new IT equipment put into use.
Milosavljevic said that sterility and post-natal wards will be adapted and new offices for offering medical advice constructed, adding that the clinic will get new medical equipment and a number of labour and surgical beds.
He reiterated that reconstruction works on the “Narodni front” clinic are part of the Ministry of Health’s project for emergency reconstruction of 20 general hospitals across Serbia funded from a €50 million loan from the EIB. The project aims to reach higher standards and provide equal health treatment conditions for all citizens in Serbia.
Director of the “Narodni front” clinic Slobodan Runic announced the launch of an artificial insemination programme at the clinic, and added that construction of a genetic laboratory, that will deal with detecting some hereditary illnesses during pregnancy, has also been planned.
