Ministry of Interior begins immediate investigation into bomb attack on Vojvodina Hungarian leader

Subotica, 30 August 2005

Serbian Minister of Interior Dragan Jocic visited today the leader of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians Jozef Kasa in Subotica, regarding the bomb attack on his house, which took place this morning at about 4 am.

In a statement to journalists in Subotica, Jocic said that the bomb attack on Kasa’s house is to be harshly condemned, especially at the moment when the Serbian government is taking measures to stabilise interethnic relations in Vojvodina.

According to him, the Ministry of Interior (MUP) will take all necessary measures in order to identify the perpetrator and to bring him to justice.

Security, peace, and calm are our aims and we will carry them out without any compromises in order to restore peace among citizens, said Minister Jocic and added that the perpetrator’s intention was to destabilise relations in Vojvodina and to spread fear among persons belonging to national minorities.
