Loncar told the Beta news agency that cross-border cooperation, as well as other forms of cooperation under the Council of Europe, can help accelerate Serbia-Montenegro’s European integration
Minister Loncar held a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of Macedonia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Lithuania, Cypress and Poland and presented future projects of regional cooperation that Serbia is planning to implement.
In the further process of EU association, Serbia will pay special attention to free circulation of people, goods and capital and cooperation in the field of judiciary, internal affairs and the joint fight against organised crime.
The conference in Warsaw was held on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Madrid Convention on Cross-border Cooperation, under the auspices of Polish Prime Minister Marek Belka and under the slogan that cross-border cooperation is "a medicine that will cure historical wounds that during the bloody 20th century furrowed entire Europe".
Loncar, as a representative of the Serbian government, together with Montenegrin Minister of Justice Zeljko Sturanovic represented Serbia-Montenegro at this conference, at which the City of Nis presented the tripartite project of cross-border cooperation with Sofia and Skopje.
