Head of the Serbian government's Office of Media Relations Srdjan Djuric told the Tanjug news agency today that the government is urging UNMIK chief Soren Jessen-Petersen, who holds greatest responsibility for the situation in Kosovo-Metohija, to explain how it is possible that Serbs are still enduring violence towards them and their property.

Djuric said that the government is asking Petersen what he has done about the situation and what he plans to do, referring specifically to yesterday's incident when the house of Dejan Nedeljkovic on the outskirts of the Serbian part of the town of Orahovac was set on fire.
The head of the Office of Media Relations said that it is unacceptable that Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija still face harassment, physical violence, and the burning of their property, while Jessen-Petersen and his associates continue to repeat that the day-to-day situation in the southern Serbian province is improving.
"We expect Jessen-Petersen to turn his words into deeds and explain in the shortest time possible how he will provide guarantees to Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija and what he will do to stop such brutalities", Djuric said.
