Serbian Minister of International Economic Relations Milan Parivodic travelled today to Brussels to meet with several officials of the European Union (EU) with whom he will officially sign the agreement on trade in textile goods between Serbia and the EU.

This will be the first trade agreement signed between Serbia and the EU. The agreement will be signed by Ambassador of Luxembourg Martine Schommer on behalf of the EU, as Luxembourg is the current holder of the EU presidency.
According to the agreement, which should become effective by early summer, Serbia will be able to export textile goods to the EU market free of customs barriers.
This document is of great importance for the Serbian economy since textile goods account for 30 percent of Serbia's export and the Serbian textile industry employs more than 200,000 workers.
