State Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development Zoran Masic said in Brussels that Serbia is not far behind the EU when it comes to legislation in the field of education and culture.
Upon completion of screening on Chapter 26 related to education and culture, Masic told the Tanjug news agency that most of the Serbian legislation is compliant with European standards.
The State Secretary pointed out that Chapter 26 will be among the first to open and closed during the talks, and expressed the hope that it will happen this year.
What remains to be done is to solve the issue of recognition of foreign diplomas in accordance with the Lisbon Treaty, to develop a national qualifications framework and to adopt an action plan for an education strategy.
