In an interview with the Fonet news agency, Selakovic said that the negotiating team for Chapter 23 is ready, adding that the score after the bilateral screening remains to be seen.
The Minister pointed out that there is huge and extensive work for the negotiations on this chapter.
The Ministry, judicial and other competent authorities will be involved in this work, Selakovic said.
He noted that the NGO sector is an important factor in the process of negotiations.
Selakovic said that the judiciary in Serbia is not in a satisfactory condition, although there has been some progress.
He expressed confidence that, after the adoption and implementation of a set of judicial laws, the situation will be better.
The Minister recalled that implementation of action plans of strategies for judicial reform and the fight against corruption has commenced.
He announced that text of the Public Administration Reform Strategy should be completed by the end of the year.
Selakovic pointed out that the working group of the Ministry is drafting a law on the protection of whistleblowers, which will soon be completed.
He added that Serbia will become the first state in this part of Europe which will regulate the protection of whistleblowers.
The priority of the Ministry is to improve all that is good in the judiciary, he said and stressed that it is necessary to adopt the amendments to the Law on enforcement and security.
