The Lithuanian Parliament ratified today the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) with Serbia, by which the SAA which Serbia signed with the EU has automatically come into force.
Lithuania was the last country that has not ratified the SAA. Serbia and the EU signed this agreement on 29 April 2009. In order to come into effect, it had to be ratified by parliaments of all EU member states and the European Parliament.
Pending ratification by Lithuania the Transitional agreement on trade and trade-related matters has been in force, which shall terminate upon coming into force of the SAA.
