The Ministry of Regional Development and Local Self-Government stated that Kalanovic said that Serbia and Bulgaria have a lot of potential for improving economic cooperation, mainly in the field of construction of large infrastructure projects, agriculture and tourism.
Kalanovic and Dimitrov have reached an agreement that relations between the two countries are good and friendly, but that there is more space and opportunities for growth and intensification.
The border is not a barrier to economic, tourism, agricultural, and every other cooperation between our two countries, said Kalanovic.
She said that the meeting touched the potentials of the construction of South Stream, the Nis-Sofia motorway and Stara Planina’s potential.
They also discussed the possibility of opening new border crossings.
The Minister said that this was a concrete and useful meeting, noting that there is an initiative for representatives of the ministries of the two countries – the Serbian Ministry of Regional Development and Local Self-Government and the Bulgarian Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works.
She also announced the possibility of organising a meeting of the presidents of the border municipalities that will contribute to better cross-border cooperation.
Dimitrov pointed to the importance of today's talks and expressed hope that the upcoming meeting of experts from the two countries will lead to the development of mutual cooperation, the statement added.
