Nikolic told a press conference held after a joint session of the government and the President dedicated to the draft resolution on Kosovo-Metohija that Serbia has shown that it can stand behind a single document unanimously with all the limitations and fears that it has when it comes to Kosovo-Metohija.
The Serbian President added that the Serbian Parliament should now vote on the document and said that he hopes that the MPs will understand the importance of the moment and their responsibility, as this draft resolution is no ordinary law that should bring them political benefit.
He expressed his support to the government and added that he will not withdraw from the process of resolving the Kosovo issue at any point.
Nikolic said that the draft resolution on the bases of talks with the provisional institutions in Pristina and the platform arising from that document were adopted today at a joint meeting of the President of the Republic and the government of Serbia.
Serbian Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said that full national unity on the platform for Kosovo-Metohija has been shown at the joint meeting of the President of Serbia and the Serbian government today.
Full national unity has been shown when it comes to this important document and our state and national interests, said Dacic.
He said that the Serbian President proposed the platform for talks with the provisional institutions of self-government in Kosovo, and added that the government accepted the proposal.
According to Dacic, the platform is a document that will not go public.
The platform and tactics will be presented to those who are to negotiate. Based on the platform, the government has proposed the resolution to be passed by Serbian Parliament, establishing the basic principles of talks with the provisional institutions in Pristina, said Dacic.
