Checkups of citizens returning from Japan in “Nuclear Facilities of Serbia”

Director of public company “Nuclear Facilities of Serbia” Radojica Pesic said today that several people who returned from Japan and are afraid of having been exposed to radiation have applied for checkups in this institution’s service for examination of citizens and that checkups will be made during the day.
Pesic told Fonet news agency that a service for examination of citizens who believe they were exposed to radiation was opened yesterday and will be open 24 hours a day.
He noted that parents of children who are about to return from Japan are especially interested in their children getting examined.
This institution is the only one that has proper equipment for measuring levels of internal contamination of the body, Pesic said.
He explained that our doctors specialists can very easily establish whether there is any contamination in the human organism.
In case contamination is detected, the patient is sent for further examination to the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade, Pesic explained and added that with a routine checkup it is possible to identify the possible existence of surface contamination on the skin, shoes and clothes.
In such cases our doctors specialists can perform decontamination on the spot, Pesic concluded.
